The Crisis in Peru explained in simple words.

Peru is a beautiful country located in the part of western South America. It is one of the 3rd largest countries in South America after Brazil and Argentina. It shares borders with Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Bolivia. Despite being a tropical country, it has great economic and cultural diversity.

Its capital Lima is famous for its historical sites and different culinary flavours.

The Background

Pedro Castillo won the election in June 2021 as the President of Peru defeating his right-wing rival Keiko Fujimori with a very low margin.
As an erstwhile school teacher, he was having very little political experience. Which worked against him to influence the congress (Parliament).
Even under him, there was a change in five Prime Ministers in just 17 months.
His Presidency was questioned multiple times for having involvement in corruption. As of which it was planned in congress to have an Impeachment vote against Pedro Castillo

The Televised Address

The Peruvian leader addressed the country in a surprise televised address. He announced the dissolution of Congress and the installation of an emergency government, stunning political leaders across the spectrum, including his own allies, by effectively trying to carry out what was widely condemned as an attempted coup to cling to power.
The top court declared the move unconstitutional. And the country’s armed forces and the national police issued a joint statement suggesting they would not support him.
By day’s end, Pedro Castillo, 53, was ousted from power and under arrest. Dina Boluarte, his vice president, was sworn in as president and became the first woman to lead Peru.

The Protest

Several violent protests have broken out across the country in which agitators are blocking the roads and damaging government properties.
They have been demanding Castillo's freedom, Boularte's resignation and an immediate general election for choosing a new President and Congress
